I was having a conversation with myself today, in my own head (you know while driving... in absence of another adult), and I told myself that I only have one more week of swimming lessons after gym and THEN my life will only merely be "utterly busy and insane." The jam packed will be go away since we will remove 1 hour of changing clothing, nervously watching the swim lesson, changing clothing again and moving onward in our day.
Throughout the day the Veggie Tales song "Busy" kept popping into my head. I wanted to find a video for you, or even an audio file and I just can not find one for you. :( The best I can find for you are these lyrics:
Archibald (Mayor): I'm busy, busy, dreadfully busy
You've no idea what I have to do.
Busy, busy, shockingly busy
Much, much too busy for you.
Larry: Oh, I see.
'Cause we're busy, busy, frightfully busy
More than a bumblebee, more than an ant.
Busy, busy, horribly busy
We'd love to help, but we can't!
Archibald: Ta ta!
You've no idea what I have to do.
Busy, busy, shockingly busy
Much, much too busy for you.
Larry: Oh, I see.
'Cause we're busy, busy, frightfully busy
More than a bumblebee, more than an ant.
Busy, busy, horribly busy
We'd love to help, but we can't!
Archibald: Ta ta!
Tuesdays:
- up, shower, ready, try to get in one of my 3 cups of daily coffee
- kids up, dressed, fed, out to do animal chores, outerwear changed into car ride wear
- drive to the BIG nearby town for Homeschool gym class at the University with the Physical Education Students
- stay for swimming lessons with the Phy. Ed. Majors (It's not P.E. here it's Phy. Ed. The first time I heard this on the phone I was taking notes as we were preparing to move up and I was looking for a teaching job. The lady on the phone said "Phy. Ed" and I wrote "fi ed" and had no idea what that was. She gasped when I asked and said "You DON'T HAVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION????" Umm. We call it GYM or P.E. Not Phy (F sound, long I sound) Ed.
- anyway..... they have let my 6.5 year old AND my 4 year old into lessons. There are 3 boys to one instructor. My 4 year old likes to wiggle, move, jump around and play while on a chair that they lower into the water for the short ones to stand on. Today he started grabbing the side drain shelf and began moving his legs off the chair (when no one was near him). The instructor was with one of the other boys having them float on their back and stomach with kick boards. They were often 6-8 feet away from Abram. He is too short to touch without the chair. Can we say: Anxiety Therapy practice for mommy??? Breathe in, breath out. There are instructors and observers everywhere, are any of them watching, anyone? Breathe in, breathe out. (I'll go into why I have such high water anxiety at a later date. I am over coming a previous trauma.)
- Swimming is not just about the lesson in the water. There is the inherent lesson of how to change into swim clothes and out of wet swim clothes quickly and calmly. My Abram (4) is one of the most distracted and pokey clothes changers ever to be observed in my home setting. I am not about to send him into a locker room full of other, non-supervised kids, to change when we have to re-direct him so much at home. So I pull them into the ladies bathroom with me to change into swim clothes and then thankfully we have been allowed to use a faculty bathroom to help him change from wet clothes back onto dry. OY. I think assisting a child stay on task and get dressed without doing the job for them is one of the most exhausting jobs for this mother.
- Then every other week I have women's bible study... which is great but long. We pick up lunch, eat at our friend's house and have bible study while the kids very energetically play around us.
- Then we go home and they watch their chosen dvd of the day (30-45 min). I actually let them have a longer one today as I realized at gym that the deep conditioner I used this morning did not fully wash out in my morning shower...envision my long hair LOOKING wet but feeling like Crisco!!! I took a shower to scrub it.
- One hour after we arrived home it was time to leave for my Master Gardening Class where the topic of the night was TURF. I was very bored. We have recently let our *turf* grow into pasture for our animals. I really had little interest in the topic. I looked through a workbook from the brand new All About Reading program that I received for a TOS Review and I ripped apart perforated cards for the program. I can say this review and program is going to be a ton more fun than tonight's Master Gardner Program. :)
So as the song popped into my head I kept wondering if I am as "put-off-ish" about my busyness as the song shows??? I hope not. I try not to be but when one is busy every moment of a very long day it sure can be a battle.
I hope you all are doing well. I've been wanting to blog everyday lately but just have been TOOOOO B.U.S.Y!!! Busy, busy, dreadfully busy, you've no idea.. what I have to do...... busy busy frightfully busy... much, much to busy for.........
OH WAIT.... Hello YOU! Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you all so much and apologize for being away so much lately. Hope you are having wonderful weeks and are gleaning lots of awesome, fun, family schooling or homesteading in. :)

Wanted to say several things:
1. I would go nuts being that busy. Serious breakdowns and mean mommy syndrome if we had that many places to go in one day and it happened every week. ;)
2. Swim class - I would panic. Pretty literally. I can swim. My kids can't. We've not got access to a pool, so we don't ever go swimming, as we've passed the point of having enough hands to help each child at the same time. And I'm terrified of water/drowning, so having my kids in it would be bad.bad.bad. I would like for the kids to learn, but can't afford swim lessons. One of these years, right?
3. Good old veggie tales, love the songs!
1- Yep. It's been super hard. In the past Tuesdays have been hard but adding the night class has made it REALLY hard. The class is teaching me a whole lot that I hope to put into our gardens this year and hope to be able to increase our production. It's worth it and it ends mid April.. merely 2 weeks before gym... and then the garden season will be thinking about starting. Usually that which seems impossible is often that which molds us for the better, right?
2- YEP! One more week of swimming. They are learning a lot but it is hard on this mama, especially when the other mamas chit chat and I feel like I am being rude for not listening or chiming in.
You can listen to a snippet of the song here:
